The University Hospital of Cologne and the Faculty of Medicine mourn with great sympathy the loss of Colomba Marcone, who died on April 19, 2025 after a short, serious illness at the age of 63. Colomba Marcone had worked at Cologne University Hospital since 1980. First in the laundry, then in the Central Services department and finally in the Center for Biochemistry.

"Colomba Marcone had been an integral part of the Center for Biochemistry since 2001. With her many years of experience and her great commitment to laboratory services, she made a special mark on our team," recalls Prof. Dr. Marius Lemberg on behalf of all employees at the Center. “Her tireless commitment, warmth and always positive attitude made her a highly valued and indispensable colleague. We were deeply shocked by the news of her sudden death. Our thoughts are with her family and all those who were close to her. We will miss Colomba Marcone very much.”

The funeral will take place on April 30 at 9:00 a.m. at Melaten Cemetery.
